Travis Austin Recovery Group (TARG)

When the 83 mile long Onion Creek flooded on Halloween of 2013, roughly seven different communities were inundated when a raging river poured through their homes.   With little to no notice so early in the morning, many were not able to escape.

Drawing upon the knowledge and support of groups that formed around the Bastrop and Spicewood Springs fires and the input from many other groups, it was felt that a local organization was needed to focus on the Austin Travis County floods which could continue to stay involved in organizing the recovery process on a long term basis.  From this work, TARG was born. TARG (Travis County Austin Recovery Group) is continuing to build the leadership and infrastructure to address the ongoing unmet as well as long term needs of these communities.
