About Central Texas VOAD
The Central Texas Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (CTXVOAD) is a humanitarian association of independent voluntary organizations that are active in one or more phases of disaster: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. The mission of CTXVOAD is to promote effective and efficient service delivery to people affected by disaster through cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration.
To achieve its mission, CTXVOAD collaborates with local, state and federal governmental partners, as well as other nonprofits, including faith-based and community-based organizations.
The jurisdiction of CTXVOAD is Travis County with support for Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Guadalupe, Hays, Travis and Williamson.
Our Guiding Principles
Cooperation: Foster cooperation among Central Texas VOAD member organizations at all levels and in all phases of disaster
Communication: Exchange and disseminate information among Central Texas VOAD member organizations and the public, as well as local, state and federal agencies, in conjunction with the individual Central Texas VOAD members.
Coordination: Coordinate the development of Central Texas VOAD policies and procedures, and, the implementation of services among Central Texas VOAD member organizations. Central Texas VOAD may also provide links to national and international disaster relief organizations. Central Texas VOAD serves as advocate and liaison between member agencies and the City of Austin, the County governments within their jurisdiction, the State of Texas and the federal government.
Collaboration: Central Texas VOAD members work together to achieve specific goals and to undertake specific projects at disaster sites and forming partnerships during the disaster response.
